Arctic tern attack

I was forced to wash my clothes after shooting this scene. The overly aggressive arctic terns was striking my head while bombing me with droppings.

Freezing!

Icy morning at Hotellneset. The temperature was -27 degrees C, and with the wind chill factor around – 42 (-43 F). You can see Advent bay and Longyearbyen in the distant.

Pastel tones

Lovely pastel tones on the sky over Longyearbyen and the Advenfjord today. We’ve had our last sunset of this year, the sun are below the horizon all day. This picture was taken at noon on October 28 2012.

Autumn in Longyearbyen


It is rare that there is no snow in the end of September. The picture was shot September 24, 2011, on the way up to Platåfjellet. Longyearbyen lay next the bay of Adventfjorden, a branch of Isfjorden.
